An elite group of graduates of the Fashion Institute of Technology’s master’s program, in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing Management, presented “Beauty in a Digital World” on June 5th, 2013, during the students’ graduation event. The presentation was sponsored by Beiersdorf North America and held at FIT’s Haft Auditorium. Over 700 members of the industry were in attendance. If you missed it, some of the grads will be speaking at these three seminars, at HBA Global Expo: Digital Analytics, Digital Marketing and Digital Commerce. “We are excited to offer another platform for this ‘think tank’ of information,” said Professor Stephan Kanlian, chairperson, FIT’s Master Program. He continued, “To bring the content to life in an interactive format at HBA Global will benefit all those involved in the research, as well as attendees who will learn first hand how to authentically integrate all the elements of a digital tool kit into a brand’s personality and global marketing strategy.” Bill Graham, president, Beiersdorf North America, said the company was honored to sponsor the program this year, saying, “Not only did we celebrate the graduation of two of our company’s brightest managers, we supported a one-of-a-kind program that promotes innovation and unprecedented collaboration within our highly competitive industry.” Graham continued, “Digital marketing is at the core of our brand campaigns. We look forward to implementing some of the great thinking and research findings to continue growing our brands.” Joe Rospars, CEO of Blue State Digital and chief digital strategist for President Obama’s two presidential campaigns, delivered a keynote speech at the presentation at FIT.Here’s the advice he has for beauty brands. Google provided research assistance for the students. “We’re proud to be the research partner for the FIT study. There are huge opportunities for building brand value through the smart use of data, and we support projects that seek to make this accessible and actionable for brand marketers,” said Kevin Kells, national industry director, Consumer Packaged Goods, Google, Inc.
